Last week’s Non Farm Payrolls report was worse than expected at -131k in July compared with a downwardly revised 221k jobs lost in June.

Yesterday, the US Labor Department announced that the Initial jobless claims increased by 2,000 to 484,000 in the week ended Aug. 7, the highest level since February.

With the poor Non Farm Payroll and raising Jobless Claims, there have been increased concerns that the pace of economic recovery is likely to be slower than anticipated.

For today, the fundamentals, the US Advanced Retail Sales and US Consumer Price Index will likely influence USDJPY trades:

The forecast is 1.2% for July against an earlier 1.1% in June.

US Consumer Price Index
